The Windows of the Saints

A young boy traveling in Europe had the opportunity to visit old cathedrals with stained glass windows which told stories of the Bible, for those who could not read.  Upon returning home, he told his Sunday school teacher of the windows of the saints.  When she asked him what a saint is, he thought for a moment and said, “A saint is someone who God shines His light through.”

Would that we, the saints, live our lives being people who God shines His light through.

One poet put it this way:

“Some desire to be stained glass, of rainbow colored hue,
I want to be a windowpane to let the Son shine through.

A clean glass, a clear glass is what I’d like to be,
Not concerned with temperament or personality.

I’d like the Son to shine through me, so that my friends would say,
Not, ‘What a lovely pain,’ but ‘What a lovely day!’”

I pray that we would be that light in the world, in even the darkest places, reflecting the light of Christ.
