A Honest Atheist
The video below was shared with me by another pastor and it seems worthy of being shared as an encouragement to Christians to share their faith. Atheist comedian Penn, of Las Vegas’ “Penn and Teller” shares about an encounter he had with Christian man sharing his faith. While Penn insists there is no God, he recognizes that one’s faith in there being a heaven and a hell, carries with it a responsibility to proselytize.
While we don’t want to be obnoxious Christians, we should be faithful to share our faith as the Lord leads us. If I know a cure for cancer and you are dying from the disease, don’t I have a responsibility to tell you about it? How much greater is my responsibility to share with you the salvation that Jesus died for, so that you may have eternal life with Him, rather than eternal judgment in hell?
One of Penn’s comments is: “I don’t respect people who don’t proselytize. If you believe that there’s a heaven and hell, and people could be going to hell, and you think, ‘Well, it’s not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward’… How much do you have to hate somebody not to proselytize?”
