Haiti Relief Effort - Update 1/17

The  team is back at base camp in the Domincan Republic and all are safe.  Today the team split into 3 different groups to maximize their ability to investigate opportunites for ministry.

One team headed to the border of Haiti and reached 30 miles from the capital.  It was a fruitful trip as they were able to not only get into Haiti, but also connect with another ministry already serving in the area and gather valuable information about the surrounding areas and the needs at present.

Another team made thier way to a fishing town in order to investigate the possibility of accessing a large city in Haiti by boat.  They were able to establish one possible lead but will be searching out the possiblilty of travelling there by aircraft as it may be more effecient and alot safer.

The last team stayed back at base camp and prepared the house they are staying at to better accomodate future missions teams and the storage of necessary supplies.

All of them are now gathered for prayer and worship to close their day of ministry.

Please continue to pray for their safety and open doors.

Haiti Relief Effort

We’re excited to report that the Lord has opened amazing doors for a team from Calvary Chapel Old Bridge to assist the people in Haiti!  Our team is flying to the Dominican Republic this Saturday (January 16th) and is planning to drive into Haiti to serve the victims of Tuesday’s earthquake.  We have been in contact with people from the Dominican Republic and Haiti who are reporting that the damage is catastrophic, travel into Haiti is difficult, and security is a concern across the nation.  Team members will also be developing contacts in both countries on behalf of Calvary Chapel Relief, who will coordinate additional short-term trips for the next several months.  Please pray that the Lord guides, protects, and provides ministry opportunities for our team!

How Can You Help?
Due to uncertainty about access into Haiti and specific physical needs, the most effective way to support the relief efforts in Haiti at this time is through your financial contributions.  All donations will be used to support the people of Haiti and those ministering in the wake of this tragedy.  We invite you to make your online, tax-deductible donation on our website: www.ccob.org/page.asp?pg=donate (see “Haiti Relief” in red).

Please check our homepage (ccob.org) for daily updates from our team on the ground and for news about future relief efforts.  For specific inquiries regarding our efforts in Haiti, please contact Pastor Brien Dunphy at 732.679.9222 or brien@ccob.org.
